Bugatti has a new special edition of the Chiron Sport called Les Legendes du Ciel, which is Legends of the Sky/Heavens, according to Carscoops. Apparently, these cars are built to pay homage to legendary racing drivers.
The car is designed to pay homage to the famous racing drivers of the last century. Obviously, many of them were excellent pilots, too. Les Legendes du Ciel will be limited to 20 units. Each will be priced at €2.88 million (equal to $3.4 million). This excludes taxes. The cars will enter production at the end of this year with deliveries targeted for early 2021.
The Bugatti Chiron
The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car. It is designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It is manufactured in Molsheim, France by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016. This car is based on the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept car. The car is named after the Monegasque driver Louis Chiron. Also, the car shares the name with the 1999 Bugatti 18/3 Chiron concept car.
The Homage Car
The car is finished in Gris Serpent inspired by aircraft of the 1920s. There’s a white gloss center stripe running the length of the car. The French flag is featured on the carbon fiber sills. Also, a special logo appears on the front fenders. Inside you’ll find a special logo on the headrests, Gaucho leather, aluminum trim, and special edition numbering. Moreover, there is a glass roof option as well as some a comfort seat option.
Apparently, the engine is the same as the standard Chiron. It’s the quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 that makes 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the performance is the same, too. To be safe, the drivetrain is electronically limited top speed of 261 mph.
“Bugatti has had close associations with aviation since the company was established more than 110 years ago. Many successful Bugatti racing drivers, such as Albert Divo, Robert Benoist, and Bartolomeo ‘Meo’ Costantini, flew for the French Air Force, the French aviator legend Roland Garros privately drove a Bugatti Type 18 to be as fast on the road as in the air,” said President Stephan Winkelmann. “It is therefore almost an obligation for us today to pay tribute to the legends of that time and dedicate a special edition to them.”
